The Sirens Inside You

One of the wonderful, kindred fascinations that so many of us share in the SL blogging and Flickr communities is a deep love and appreciation for music. Songs can often be found informing and inspiring pictures, blog posts, and even the looks we create. And some of the most enduring and beloved landmarks on the grid often have music at their core: whether it’s a well-loved dance and DJ spot, or a region like Chouchou whose very existence in rooted in the music created by its amazing owners and designers.

I’m often listening to music as I wander the grid, work on photography, or write my blog posts. And it was the soundtrack to the amazing and heartrending game “Life Is Strange” that inspired the site and sonic mood of my picture today. Without giving away any spoilers or secrets, a lighthouse features prominently in the game, and my look reminds me of something that a grown-up Max might wear on a trip in the dusky evening light to the Oregon coast. A form-fitting bikini modestly covered by a cool jacket she snagged from Chloe’s closet, and sandals with a wonderful Boho vibe that may be a bit of a nod to Rachel Amber’s memorable style.

Desert Rose

Merry weekend wishes to my readers and friends! I hope you’re all having a lovely and relaxing time, and keeping cool as well! ♡

Speaking of which, when I tried on the wonderful Estelle outfit by LAZYBONES at the current round of The Chapter Four, I knew it had to be mine for the fantastic “Arizona Heat Wave” print! As a (wilting) desert rose myself, I can attest to its accuracy; 8 months of summer-like weather, and often so many long stretches of time without a drop of rain in the skies. Sounds lovely in theory, but as a fair-skinned, ginger-haired, Irish/Scots lass I often ask myself … why did I think it was a brilliant idea to move here again? ;)

But you know what does keep me in marvelously high spirits? Anniversary gifts! Kingdom of Welcome Addiction

It’s so fascinating to me, all the various and sundry things in life that can be seen as an addiction. And even more curiously, many of them truly are beneficial and worthwhile – so perhaps better said, when you’re addicted to something that’s “good” for you, it’s more like a positive habit than something you may need to be cured of or separated from. And that’s a good thing my lovely friends, because when it comes to my Maitreya mesh body: Lara girl, I can’t quit you! ♥

The Mesh Body Addicts Fair launched its very first round on August 1st and is open for your shopping delight through August 21st at 11pm SLT. It’s a quarterly event, and as the name suggests, the theme is heavily focused on items that are particularly designed with mesh bodies, body parts, and mesh heads in mind. While the emphasis is on both fitmesh and body-specific appliers, you will still find Standard Sizes and Omega Appliers in many of the designer’s offerings to help maximize the range and compatibility for all customers. The overall range of items is really impressive! You’ll find awesome items for both the fellas and the ladies, including full mesh bodies, clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics and tattoos, and more.

One more terrific thing to note is that there’s a MBAF-sponsored photo contest to try your hand at, and the prize is truly impressive: the winner receives a copy of both Even Mesh Bodies (Slim and Pulpy versions); an Eve’Olution mesh head, lingerie set and three dresses; and an additional L$10,000 worth of gift cards from participating designers! Bewitched

Do you remember the iconic scene from The Wizard of Oz, when the Wicked Witch of the West gets doused with water and begins melting? Well darlins, I’d risk some serious meltage right about now, because every bit of my being feels like it’s on fire! And not in the rad way, like I just beat the last boss in a video game with my skill and prowess, and “I’M ON FIYAH!” Alas, I mean it (almost) literally: my air conditioning has died and I’m sweating and sweltering something fierce in the high desert heat. As Ms. West might say: “What a world, what a world!”

Speaking of all things witchy and wizardy, this (Not-So) Wicked Witch of the (South)West is still delighting in the wonderful world of Harry Potter with fabulous finds from the Wizarding Faire, which makes its final bow on July 25th. I was enamored to see how beautiful and delicate some of the Faire-exclusive offerings are, which means that even casual HP fans or those who wish to display their fandom with more subtle effect have plenty of options to choose from. As the RL me is happily typing up this post bare as the day I was born, I thought it a perfect opportunity to do some close-up portraits without a stitch of clothing on. I hope you enjoy, and be sure to visit the Wizarding Faire before it closes for the year!
