Moth, Butterfly, and Torchbug

The inspiration for my title today comes from a gorgeous piece of music I had the fortune to stumble upon from the Elder Scrolls Online soundtrack, a game I’ve not yet played, although I’m a tremendous fan of the single-player RPGs in the Elder Scrolls series. And in like kind, my look reminds me of something I might have loved to wear in Skyrim, or perhaps in another favorite RPG of mine, Dragon Age. Rather than slaying beasts today though, I’m charming them! These lovely butterflies at the gorgeous Calypso Dream sim seem to be quite interested in me, at least!

With the exception of my twinkly toe jewels, everything in my style today may be found at a fashion event, three of them from the fabulous Illusion Point which is on through August 18th. From Les Encantades, I’m wearing the dreamily draped Chiara Dress, and I just fell in love with this warm, leafy green color with its golden accents. And speaking of all things leafy, how lovely is this face mask by Spyralle? I’m delighted with how perfectly it fits, and the included HUD offers 4 metals and 6 beautiful leaf colors to choose from. Also from Illusion Point is the utterly charming Sebastian jewelry set by Cae, which features a delicate crab in 3 changeable metal colors, with 10 gorgeous pearl options and 10 jewel tones for its wee little eyes.

Another wonderful event exclusive is from Che Bella and it’s the Moth’s Treasure Wings, which may be found at The Gacha Garden. Much like the recent Epiphany event, The Gacha Garden has a really unique twist to its gachas: once you’ve pulled 20 times on a single machine, you are guaranteed an ultra-rare item – a “Seed of Inspiration” – that will be retired forever after the event. I also have to mention how much I adore this rich magenta/plum lipstick by Nova Bodyshop, which may be found at Totally Top Shelf. I think this is my favorite Nova lipstick so far: it fits my pouty lips just perfectly, and the shade is striking without being too deep. Perfect! And as always with Noctea’s wonderful cosmetics, the Grace lipsticks come with a wide range of appliers, which I’ve listed in the credits above. I’m also using a pose from the excellent Sitting Pretty Pose Pack by Kirin, which may be found this month at Kustom9. Sitting poses that work well with mesh clothing can be a bit tricky, I’ve found, and the options in this pack are really lovely. I’m sure I’ll be turning to them often in the future!

One last thing to mention is how truly lovely the Calypso Dream sim is; I’ll be visiting here all the time for picture-taking opportunities, I just know it! Many thanks to the gracious Manis Lane for offering her sim to the public for exploring and photography! ♥

I may be missing the red and white from my look today, but I’ve definitely got the blue covered! This lush, chic dress is by db Dollz and is exclusive to The Showroom event through July 11th. It comes in six colors, and I was head-over-heels for the rich, sapphire blue tone. Blue is my favorite color, and I just don’t wear it often enough in-world, which is an inexcusable crime! The soft ruching is a lovely detail, and I have to adore a dress that can easily be dressed up or down, and is both sexy and chic. All of the rawrs! ♥

My sweet accessory is another event exclusive: the Ribbons & Pearls necklace by Secret Love may be found at the FAD Fashion Event through July 25th. As always with Faylinn’s lovely designs, you have several metal, ribbon and gem colors in the HUD to choose from. My eyes and nails are two free Marketplace finds from TSM and By Snow, and I love the pops of purple to compliment the blues. I’m sure with that, my lavender-loving friend Holly will insist that I’m once again attempting to be an enabler, but my only response to that is: “What do you mean attempting?” /me grins cheekily

I’m using a built-in pose in my 1st pic, and the pose in my 2nd pic is by Signature Pose and is exclusive to the My Slink Obsession event, which kicks off on July 5th. Between all the ongoing and upcoming fashion events, and the weekend and month-long sales, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to offset a frenetic holiday with a heapin’ dose of retail therapy!

Late Bloomer

Lately I’m getting by on only around 4 hours of sleep a night (or morning, as the case may be) so finding a space of solace and serenity in the virtual world is bliss when I’m working on a new photo or post. When I spied the name Chakryn Forest in someone’s profile’s picks (not that I was perving or anything … ahem), it seemed familiar to me, and when I put together this look I thought an enchanted forest would make for a lovely backdrop.

This won’t be a particularly wordy post, because there are some last minute, event-exclusive lovelies that I wanted to share, and I’d much rather you go check them out than be scrolling through my rambles! (Although I truly adore and appreciate that you do!)

RAYNE is offering the chic, sleek Blossom jumpsuit as a free gift to group members, and it may be picked up from the Sneak Peek event, which is also where the beautiful La Boheme outfit resides that I featured on Monday. I found a sweet and apt accompaniment in the Rose Crown by db Dollz, which is a gacha prize from the Ross Fair Event. The crown comes in several sweet colors and combinations, and is beautifully crafted.

I peeked into The Dressing Room Fusion and fell hard for Izzie‘s lovely Arrowhead Necklace, which comes in both gold and silver metals with an versatile range of texture-change hues, and is a steal at just L$70. My favorite part is that it’s literally pointing at my bosoms, as if ensuring that people direct their gaze at my womanly curves. Hey, no complaints here! :)

My soft midnight black polish is from Alaska Metro‘s free tester pack, which offers Maitreya, Slink, Eve and Omega appliers. Her designs are dazzling and wildly affordable, so I highly recommend picking up the tester pack and then thoroughly buying out her entire Marketplace shop! And my ring is gift from a past round of We Love Roleplay by designer Fawny; it’s so pretty with its delicate leaf design. I realized that it was meant for the other hand, but I really wanted to show off the ring with this pose, so I was very appreciative that the ring has copy/mod permissions and I was able to easily create a left-hand version. I so dearly love when creators give us options like this!

I’ve been lusting over White Widow‘s tattoos since they kept sneaking into my Flickr feed (it’s some form of witchy black magic, honestly!) – and I’m rapt with the gorgeous Desperado hunt gift. It comes with an impressive number of appliers for your meshy bodies and bits, and also offers options for classic avatars. My eyes and eyeshadow are courtesy of Banana Banshee and Zibska, and they both did a smashing job being inspired by the hunt’s theme of “Circus”. From Banana Banshee, you’ll find four pairs of eyes in really cool color and pattern combinations, and mesh options are offered in several sizes, including a special size for petite avatars. And Zibska offers a dazzling array of 10 shimmery eyeshadows in classic tattoo layers and appliers for TMP and LeLutka heads.

My amazingly glamorous ‘do is by Besom, and right now it’s exclusive to the N21 Event, which is ongoing through July 10th. I’m madly in love with the hair colors found in the Fade Dye HUD! The pretty pastel fades are so perfect, I want to rez the HUD and rub up against it in a salacious manner that would be entirely unladylike! My wonderfully sexy bikini is by Sachi, a new brand with a lot of promise who are doing lovely work with applier clothing. (But don’t worry, classic avies – clothing layers come with each purchase as well!) The Karrueche Bikini comes in Cyan, Orange and Ruby Red, and whilst I don’t often reach for red in my outfits, I couldn’t resist the juicy, apple-licious hue.

Speaking of new brands, I’m really impressed with the quality of Paper Arrow‘s beautiful and delicate jewelry. They have a wonderful gift out right now, and their group fee will be raised to L$250 on July 20th so now’s the time to teleport over and snag the goodness! On sure, I could give you a preview of the gift, but I’mma tease you into giving Paper Arrow a very worthwhile visit yourself, because I’m fancy like that. ^_^

And on the subject of being fancy, I’m on a surfboard, you guise! Well, technically I’m lounging on a surfboard, but it’s only because I don’t want to risk getting my hair wet, and there’s the whole “lack of surfing prowess” thang to contend with. So for my kindred beach babes who’d rather surf our deep thoughts than the deep ocean blue, MMC has created a perfect pink surfboard prop that comes with 8 relaxing and highly picturesque poses.

Summer Rayne

In my little corner of the First Life universe, it’s HOT. I think even the Grammar Police would forgive that egregious caps lock usage, because there’s just no suitable way to express the special melty, sweltery misery of a desert summertime. Why did a red haired, fair skinned, burns-to-a-crisp-in-10-minutes lass move to such a place? Excellent question, my friends! Do let me know if you ever think of a logical answer. ;)

Having grown up in the Northeastern part of the US, I was used to never living far from a body of water, whether it was the Atlantic ocean; a pretty lake at a state park; even a swimming hole at the base of a waterfall where you’d steal away on lazy summer afternoons for shy smooches with your high-school paramour. But in the Southwest? Bodies of water are either man-made and un-swimmable, or merely a faraway dream.

With our lack of precipitation and shorelines, I always have a dual dream of rain and the beach, although not necessarily experiencing both at the same time! But in Second Life, I’m enjoying exactly that: a beautiful oceanside escape and a gorgeous outfit that may not be suitable for rain, but was beautifully made by RAYNE. Close enough for me!

I feel just like a tropical, boho beach babe in my long, lovely skirt and fringed top by RAYNE Couture, which is exclusive to the Sneak Peak event through July 5th. It comes in three different color combinations; I’m showing the forest/red (left) and teal/purple (right) styles here. And my beautiful, freckly and fresh-faced skin is by DS’ELLES, whose skintones are just perfection for sunny summer days! They give me a soft, sweet kiss of sun that I can’t even dream of achieving in real life.

How lovely it is that the virtual world lets us experience so many things we can only wish for in the physical world, from the serenity of an ocean’s shore to the golden loveliness of tanned skin. Is it any wonder that I’m absolutely rapt over my 2nd Second Life? ♥
