Sweaty summertime greetings, my loves! As I’m sitting here still A/C-less in the 100°F+ heat, all of my thoughts keep running to cold, creamy, delicious frozen treats. So when I spied Label Motion‘s Yummy Ice Cream in my inventory, I just couldn’t resist adding it to my look today. I visited the always-dazzling Just Another Tequila Sunrise for a beautiful afternoon stroll, and I thought the autumnal colors matched perfectly with my “bohemian country” inspired look.

I’ve one more treat to show you from the Wizarding Faire, which ends this coming Saturday, so you must fly if you’ve not yet enjoyed the magical wonders of it all! My necklace is by Cae and is a beautifully delicate representation of the Quidditch Snitch, with three different metal colors in the HUD. Equally as delicate and lovely is my septum ring by PUNCH, which is exclusive to the Oh My Gacha event through July 31st. And I’m a little bit obsessed with my shoes, the Noa Wedges by KC Couture. They’re just so stylish and perfect for a glam, summertime stroll! As always with Klari’s shoes, these come with lots of color options in the HUD, including different bases and the ability to colorize the straps and sole individually.

Feeling so much love for the Country Girl hair by Besom, which comes with a beautifully-textured hat with 3 different colors in the HUD. It’s a Shiny Shabby exclusive, available now through August 15th. I really enjoy the soft shininess of Besom’s hair textures, which play beautifully with windlights to create all sorts of lovely highlights. My outfit is by BLOKC and may be found at the Mesh Avenue event, with 3 unique and summery colors/patterns in the HUD. I really adored this red print; it reminded me of a favorite bandanna that I used to tie around my hair in the ’90s during my perma-flannel grunge phase. Those were the days!

Speaking of bandannas, if you haven’t visited the Hair Fair yet, you only have until Sunday to do so! And if you happen to be there on the 26th, be sure to observe the official Bandanna Day, the day “we remove our hair to show we care”. There are booths set up on every Hair Fair sim where you may purchase special, resident-created bandannas with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Wigs for Kids organization. Sword of Light and Shadow

One of the things I most adore about Second Life blogging is when I select something from my inventory – whether its a wardrobe piece, an accessory, a pair of shoes, even a pose – and it immediately inspires an entire look. I had intended to go in a completely different direction today, but when I put on the gorgeous Crown of Swords by ERSCH, my prior ideas vanished completely. And the especial pleasure becomes peeking through your inventory folders to find just the right items to go with your inspiration touchstone. Given that I don’t (yet!) have too many fantasy-flavored items in my wardrobe, I went for a modern queenly vibe. I think it pulled together quite well!

My skin is in the new porcelaine skin tone from DS’ELLES, and I love how it gives me the an ethereal look without being too pale (always a tricky balance to strike). It may be found in the main store, as can my LeLutka hair, which is a free group gift available in 8 lovely hues. The LeLutka group is still completely free to join, and last I checked there were still at least six group gifts to grab in their hair store, and all of them really lovely!

My necklace is the perfectly regal Pearl Droplets by Secret Love, which also comes with matching earrings and a trio of pearl colors and metal tones in the HUD. And I really adore the shape of the Grecia Dress by BLOKC, which has the loveliest draped detailing and is absolutely perfect in this soft, blush hue. Several other colors are also available, and it’s wonderfully affordable at only L$75. And as I was double-checking the price for this post, I noticed that the gold version of this dress is currently set as a free promo on the SL Marketplace. Don’t miss out!

Hair, There, and Everywhere!

My friends, I sense a disturbance in the force. The “force” being our virtual budgets, that is, and the “disturbance” being a clear conspiracy by several of the grid’s most beloved brands to divest us of all of our monies. Designers and creators, I’m totally onto you! ♥

But first, a personal reflection. My mom and I are a lot alike: tall and sassy dames with bawdy senses of humor; quick to laugh and with a great affection for making people smile. But there’s a place where our paths diverge sharply, one which has caused people to joke that despite our physical and personality similarities, we can’t possibly be related. Because you see, my mom adores accessories. Shoes, handbags, necklaces, rings, really all manner of shiny things! Jewelry is her absolute favorite; she buys it, she makes it, she even sells some on the side. But me? I have like 7 pairs of shoes and one purse to my name. And – much to my amusement and delight – it confounds and frustrates the family’s matriarch to no end.

Mom would be pleased to know that my virtual world counterpart is much more accessorized than the RL me – and happily so! But as much as pixel jewels and footwear are a pleasure, my true weakness in Second Life are hairstyles. I believe the first real virtual dollars I spent a few weeks ago were on joining the VIP groups for Little Bones and Moon, and I’ve been delightedly collecting group gifts from many brands and lusting over the new hair releases I keep spying on Flickr.

Here’s where the conspiracy theory kicks in: no less than three beloved hair designers are simultaneously having massive summer sales right now! Shine on me, Lottery Gods: I know I never remember to buy a ticket, but I could really use a cashalicious windfall! :D
