/me stretches and purrs! 🐱
Lately I’m getting by on only around 4 hours of sleep a night (or morning, as the case may be) so finding a space of solace and serenity in the virtual world is bliss when I’m working on a new photo or post. When I spied the name Chakryn Forest in someone’s profile’s picks (not that I was perving or anything … ahem), it seemed familiar to me, and when I put together this look I thought an enchanted forest would make for a lovely backdrop.
This won’t be a particularly wordy post, because there are some last minute, event-exclusive lovelies that I wanted to share, and I’d much rather you go check them out than be scrolling through my rambles! (Although I truly adore and appreciate that you do!)
RAYNE is offering the chic, sleek Blossom jumpsuit as a free gift to group members, and it may be picked up from the Sneak Peek event, which is also where the beautiful La Boheme outfit resides that I featured on Monday. I found a sweet and apt accompaniment in the Rose Crown by db Dollz, which is a gacha prize from the Ross Fair Event. The crown comes in several sweet colors and combinations, and is beautifully crafted.
I peeked into The Dressing Room Fusion and fell hard for Izzie‘s lovely Arrowhead Necklace, which comes in both gold and silver metals with an versatile range of texture-change hues, and is a steal at just L$70. My favorite part is that it’s literally pointing at my bosoms, as if ensuring that people direct their gaze at my womanly curves. Hey, no complaints here! :)
My soft midnight black polish is from Alaska Metro‘s free tester pack, which offers Maitreya, Slink, Eve and Omega appliers. Her designs are dazzling and wildly affordable, so I highly recommend picking up the tester pack and then thoroughly buying out her entire Marketplace shop! And my ring is gift from a past round of We Love Roleplay by designer Fawny; it’s so pretty with its delicate leaf design. I realized that it was meant for the other hand, but I really wanted to show off the ring with this pose, so I was very appreciative that the ring has copy/mod permissions and I was able to easily create a left-hand version. I so dearly love when creators give us options like this!
Please be sure to check the end dates of the events as listed below, and if you haven’t already, take a peek at my Fashion & Shopping Events Calendar which will give you all the start and end dates of the currently ongoing events at a glance. I’m scheduling this post in the middle of the night, so by the time it publishes I’ll hopefully be dreaming sweetly. Good morning/night, dear readers! ♥

When I was very young, the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit debuted and it seemed nigh impossible to escape references to it in pop culture. While I wasn’t wild about the movie (much of it went over my little ginger head), I was irresistibly drawn to Jessica Rabbit, and loved to sashay around the house singing “Why Don’t You Do Right”, her sumptuously sexy torch song.
I’ve always enjoyed the fantasy of cosplaying Jessica in real life one day, and when I tried on MMC‘s Diamond Body Suit with Moon‘s gorgeous Moonlight hair (a brand whose teeny L$100 group joining fee is a million percent worthwhile), I immediately got a glimpse of what a modern day Ms. Rabbit might look like!
Want to give a special mention to the absolutely lovely group gift from Secret Love. It comes in three metals and offers oodles (yes, that’s an official term!) of color-change gem options. There are actually two necklaces set out as group gifts at the moment, and you should absolutely snatch them up. Not only because I said so, but because Secret Love’s designer, Faylinn Erin, is one of the warmest, friendliest and funniest people on the grid. True fact!
I’m really beginning to love the idea of one-piece outfits; they feel so easy and effortless! And there’s something distinctly Blanche Devereaux about an outfit that you can just “sling on and go” in its confident glamour. I imagine that Blanche fancied herself as a (slightly) more mature Jessica Rabbit, with her seduction and beguiling manner. I may have quite a while to go before I’m a Golden Girl, but I sure do feel like a glamorous chanteuse today!

When I was around 12 or so, my mom surprised me by purchasing an shabby, well-loved upright piano from a local seller in the newspaper. It arrived by the grace of a moving truck and the combined efforts of several people, and I remember feeling rich for the first time in my life. Though it had only cost a nominal $50 or so – the family really just wanted the convenience of having someone else move it from their home – to me it felt like a luxury, almost a monument. That piano had substance and took up space in the world; it was an instrument of creation and creativity, and it became the one thing in the world that felt like it was mine alone.
Mom signed me up for the most affordable lessons we could find; $8 paid to a fading jazz pianist at a local music store who started me down the same staid path that every dutiful young student was expected to take. But I was a cherry-topped chanteuse who fancied herself to be the next Tori Amos, all passion mixed with fiery angst, and none of this “First Year Piano for Beginners” nonsense. My interest in music waxed as the lessons waned, and for hours I sat pressed with my ear against a boombox balanced precariously upon the piano ledge, picking out Tori tunes by ear and belting them out with equal fervor.
We lost the piano when I was 15 and had to move, and I was heartbroken. I’d sneak into abandoned practice rooms at my high school and college, playing from ear and memory, but it was never quite the same. To this day, any time I come across a shabby old upright, faded with the patina of time and players past, I grow wistful with fond, faraway childhood memories. My heartfelt thanks to Asa Vordun and her gorgeous L’Arc en Ciel region for giving me a moment’s repose to lose myself in lovely thoughts once more.
I’m honored to have been invited to blog for My Closet, My Choice Store (MMC), and I paired the sleek and wonderfully fitted Vany Pants with the Sara Sweatshirt, a VIP group gift from Suicidal Unborn. Shae showed off the Kitty version of the sweatshirt last month – in fact, I think she may have been wearing it when we bumped into each-other on the grid for the first time! – and when I picked it up, I was thrilled to find the gorgeous galaxy print in the HUD.
MMC’s unisex Real Collection Glasses were just what I needed to shield me from the gloriously setting sun at L’Arc, and they can be found either as a group gift or for only L$1 on the Marketplace. I’m so happy when creators offer their group gifts on the MP; it’s a wonderful kindness for those who may be out of group space but would still like to sample a brand’s products.
Quality shoes for system feet are difficult to come by these days, so when I spied the indigo pumps with a soft dapple of stars in the I’m a Blue Princess outfit at Cotton Candy Monster, I had to snatch them up! I was at the store tagging a Midnight Mania board on the suggestion of a member of the SL Frees & Offers group, and was dazzled at the kawaii clothing and incredibly affordable prices at CCM. Lots of lovely items to be found there!

In my recent post about the lovely Trancescending Chill Garden, I mentioned that I found myself at the Poesie sim by lucky happenstance. But perhaps it would be more accurate to say that I was actually pose-essed to go there! ;)
Having a diverse collection of poses on hand is essential for Second Life bloggers and photographers alike, and my ongoing desire for affordable options found me browsing through pose packs on the SL Marketplace. That’s when I stumbled across Verocity Poses, and was amazed at the selection of high quality, unique and attractive pose sets for only L$1 apiece. At last check, there were 55 discounted listings! Verocity Poses @ SL Marketplace
I decided to stop by their in-world store to see if there were additional sets on clearance (it appears the ones in-world match the Marketplace store), and that’s how I came to be at Poesie, where Verocity is Trancescending’s next-door neighbor. Theirs is a lovely parcel split into several outdoor areas with singles poses and props; poseballs for couples and groups; Gacha machines, and more. The sale-price pose sets can all be found in the marked Discount section.

While exploring Verocity, I took a moment to snap photos of my recent purchases from The Wash Heat Wave Event. Today is the final day of this awesome sale, where virtually everything is L$10 from a wide variety of designers. I picked up the lovely Ella Skin there, as well as the colorful Indian Summer Choli Top by Anachron and summery Eyelet Skirt by Sn@tch. The wonderfully low prices aside, I really appreciate this event for all the new designers it introduced me to. I believe The Wash has events several times a year, so I’ll be eagerly looking forward to their next sim-wide sale!
After shopping at Verocity, I couldn’t resist peeking in over at Trancesending Chill Garden, and was delighted to see owner Pixie Marenwolf in residence. She’s absolutely lovely, and she mentioned that this past weekend she was unable to hold their usual event, but that Trancescending’s sky stage usually features live music from 4pm to midnight SLT on Sundays, so it’s well worth a visit if you enjoy uplifting, energetic electronica!
For now though, I believe I’ll just fold myself into a thoughtful pose and enjoy the warming rays of a late Springtime afternoon. <3
