I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl
If you made me name just one thing I loved in Second Life (and please don’t make me, that would be impossibly wicked!) I would unquestionably have one-piece outfits on my short list. Whether we call them jumpsuits, rompers, or playsuits, they are just so easy to wear and always get me going in a flash– usually to the latest shopping event, where I’ll most certainly be found picking up demos for even more of these wonderful things to add to my wardrobe!
But – and I pause to take a deep breath here – I may have found the be all, end all romper in CandyDoll‘s Leilani, because you can customize the top and bottom (separately if you like), as well as the gorgeous lace detailing, and the fatpack HUD comes with so many patterns and colors, it’s dizzying and delirious-making, and I couldn’t be happier to be so spoiled for choice!
I’m also quietly mesmerized by the new Jaily hairstyle from EMO-tions for the Hairology event. It’s so beautifully vintage glam, yet still with a modern ease and sensuality about it. As I posed for this picture at the wonderfully picturesque Blithe sim, I couldn’t help softly singing torch songs to myself from the ultimate vintage (and timeless) chanteuse, Nina Simone. Because after all: no matter how lovely the outfit, sometimes a woman just wants a little steam on her clothes. ;)

Merry weekend wishes to my readers and friends! I hope you’re all having a lovely and relaxing time, and keeping cool as well! ♡
Speaking of which, when I tried on the wonderful Estelle outfit by LAZYBONES at the current round of The Chapter Four, I knew it had to be mine for the fantastic “Arizona Heat Wave” print! As a (wilting) desert rose myself, I can attest to its accuracy; 8 months of summer-like weather, and often so many long stretches of time without a drop of rain in the skies. Sounds lovely in theory, but as a fair-skinned, ginger-haired, Irish/Scots lass I often ask myself … why did I think it was a brilliant idea to move here again? ;)
But you know what does keep me in marvelously high spirits? Anniversary gifts! Morning Meditation
It’s really marvelous how genuinely, sublimely happy you can feel, even when life is just smoothly sailing along without any particular excitement, surprises, or razzle-dazzle. I think that’s the pinnacle of contentment: being happy where you are, but eager and welcoming for more.
It makes me think of my friends Kess and Chloe, both of whom have expressed wishing to explore the grid more, while so often finding themselves at familiar and comfortable locales. There is a certain bliss in the familiar, one that I most definitely feel myself, while also longing to indulge in my wanderlust. How often I wish for more hours in the day! But even though I’m barely sleeping and finding only rare, spare time for exploring, I’m still so keenly happy to be home again.
I had wondered and worried if perhaps Second Life might feel like it was falling into gentle decline, with Project Sansar nipping at our heels and untold new sights and experiences to explore. But for me, SL is like that amazing local coffee house or indie record store where you can go to relax, indulge in new finds or old favorites, and feel perfectly at ease. Even if I’m just standing in my skybox, naked but for a hairbase and a smile, I still feel contentment at being in and of the virtual world. ♡

The delightfully-dreamy Ippos sim sets the stage for my look today, and I’m really adoring the Nour v2 skin by WoW Skins (a new-to-me designer) from the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, as well as the beautiful Chloe Eyeshadow by Alaska Metro for the Apply Me event. Creating glittery eye makeup must be no easy feat; I’d imagine it’s tricky getting the ideal texturing for that perfectly sparkly, foiled look, and like all her cosmetics, Alaska does the job beautifully!
My gorgeous tattoo is by Reckless (its matching leg tattoo may be found as a free group gift in-store), and I’m tremendously impressed with the quality of Landon Mode’s designs. And speaking of quality, Phoenix offers the beautifully-textured, softly-windswept Alana hair as their Mix Event item of the month, and I’m delighted at how perfectly it went with my look today. Really lovely style! As with all items from Mix, the Alana hair may be found in the Phoenix mainstore; I’m linking to the event website if you’re interested in checking out other participating designers. It’s a great event!
My outfit and armbands may both be found at this month’s round of We Love Roleplay, and they’re truly not to be missed! The Dragon Armbands by Azuchi are materials-enabled so they positively shine with your windlights, and are beautifully detailed and exquisitely made. The Becca Corsage & Skirt by Salt & Pepper offers you options in the HUD to change the leaf, flower and pearl colors, and they come in four lovely, earthy colors.
And of course, no dragon-charming warrior princess would be found without some impressive footwear, and the Olympus Boots by KC Couture are true perfection. As always with KC shoes, you can change everything from the main color, heel, sole, and even the metal details from within the HUD, and they offer lots of fits for your mesh bodies and bits. Speaking of feet, these boots are made for walking, so off I go to do some event shopping! See you soon! 💋

After unpacking my way through all the fantastic freebie finds from the other day, I noticed that I was experiencing a lack of accessories to go with my clothing cache. Then I realized that I hadn’t completely finished my group gift scouting at this month’s round of We Love Roleplay, so off I went to explore!
Like Chapter Four and FaMESHed, We Love Roleplay also celebrates its anniversary this month, and the gracious participating designers made sure that visitors would be delighted with free gifts and specially-priced items. But the generous Accessory Gods weren’t finished with me yet! Thanks to a tip from the excellent Teleport Hub blog, I visited the store Pure Poison to pick up the newly-released Gabrielle Jewelry Set and was amazed to find an entire collection of free gifts awaiting me!
37 group gifts to enjoy, and most of them necklaces, earrings and jewelry sets. Incredible! I wholeheartedly appreciate this trend that brands have employed where they allow members who are new or are returning to the group to access previously-released gifts. You see this most often in groups where there’s a joining fee, but for a brand with a completely free in-world group to offer the same perk to their members? Truly an uncommon and fantastic find. I have to admit though, I’m becoming just the teeniest bit antsy to get out and start exploring and enjoying the grid. Don’t get me wrong, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude that I’ve been able to double my wardrobe after only spending a scant L$2! I’m just one of those people who can’t bear to have a collection of unorganized items and objects in my inventory, so by nature I’m held back until I get everything unpacked, sorted out, and put away. Is that unusual, I wonder? My lovely friend Raznay says she hasn’t finished unpacking finds from the Wayward Hunt last month, and I understand that was a huge event with a lot to collect. I just want everything laid out neatly in nested and nestled folders, all ready to be worn at a moment’s notice. (Okay, I lied: I would never get dressed that quickly!) I even teased @SecondLife on Twitter that I’d be a very good lass if they would kindly implement an “UNPACK ALL THE THINGS” option, but they probably called my bluff. Curses! Maybe one of these days months years? ;)
