The Great Escape
Hello loves! I’ve been bone-deep tired the last few days, the kind of fatigue that I just can’t shake despite my best caffeine-and-cold-shower efforts. Like many of my kindred Second Life souls, I’ve some health troubles that shadow me and occasionally dull my spirits, but I do my best not to let them get the better of me. And it’s times like these that I melt more deeply into meditation, enjoying the rejuvenation that comes from a few minutes of pure relaxation. Many say that meditation can impart the feeling of flying or floating, and when I received these incredibly charming new poses from Kirin, that feeling of dreamy, floating repose is exactly what came to mind!

Thanks to the bevy of summertime and fantasy-themed events on the grid, there have been many gorgeous mermaid pictures to enjoy on Flickr these last few weeks. So I put my own spin on the trend, imagining myself as an innocent human damsel who was kidnapped by a nefarious merman and held in his watery lair, only to escape when a low-floating cloud came by as I was sunning myself on the rocks. Hee hee! Hey, stranger things have happened!
The wonderful items in my look today may almost exclusively be found at events – 7 different ones, to be exact! – and since that’s a very auspicious number, I don’t feel the least bit guilty about making you travel the grid to pick up all the loveliness! All of the SLURLs and details may be found in the credits above, but I do want to give a special mention to the luscious Requiem hairstyle by Moon for the current round of Uber. It covers one eye and is terrifically sexy and sultry, with Moon’s trademark wonderful textures and color options.
I’m also really impressed with the lovely Hippie Dress & Belt by Salt & Pepper, part of a lovely gacha set that may be found at The Gacha Garden. The dress is available in both long and short versions, and the set includes a matching necklace, bracelet, earrings, belt, and a special “Seed of Inspiration” item that may be received after 20 consecutive plays. Happiest of weekend greetings, dear friends! This is quickie (rawr) to get the word out for the dear and lovely Deesselle, who designs skins, eyes and more for her brand DS’ELLES. The skin I’m wearing in my look today is available as part of the Fifty5 Thursdays weekly sale event, which is brand new to me; I’d honestly never heard of it until Deesselle sent me the notecard! A huge number of stores put out special items for sale from L$55 to L$100, and the offering from DS’ELLES is a special edition Mathilde skin in the Colorado skintone, which is a perfect golden-tan that makes you look like you’ve just vacationed for a week in the French Riviera. It may be found at the mainstore for just L$99, but only through Sunday!

I’m also wearing a fabulous bikini and dress set from Angel’s Designs for the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, and I was truly impressed when I slipped it on and it fit perfectly. Fitmesh for the Maitreya Lara body is still experimental, so designers always recommend trying demos to ensure that their items fit as intended, and I’ve found a few times where the standard size version of a fitted mesh item was still a better option for me. But a hearty “well done” to Angel’s Designs for their work, as the bikini fits beautifully and the lovely lace dress just skims over top so nicely. Perfect for a stroll on the beach!

Summer Girl
Summertime, you are a tricky beast! No sooner had I started pining for Autumn when a lovely bundle of swimsuits came my way, and with a click of an applier button, I fell in love with the summery weather once more. Also, what better way to show off a lovely new tattoo than while wearing not very much at all? And any excuse I may find to visit one of my favorite sims is a truly worthwhile one, I’d say. So strike up “Summer Lovin'”, because it’s back to the beach with me!

First and foremost, I want to mention this gorgeous White Widow tattoo, which is a Gold level prize from The Collection, the brand new interactive adventure game from MadPea. You will become the main character in a quest that will lead you to a bevy of hidden treasures, following the clues and solving the puzzles you encounter in order to progress. It’s deeper than a traditional point-and-click game, and far more than just a hunt. The Collection has deeply immersive story and a truly unique style, so I highly recommend visiting the MadPea Games website to learn more about how to get started with this not-to-be-missed event!
In shopping event exclusives, I’m wearing the beautifully hand-drawn Giselle II Bikini by alaskametro<3, which may be found at the current round of AnyBody along side my fabulous lipstick by Nova Bodyshop. Over at the WearHouse event, you’ll find the gorgeous Ginger hairstyle by Tukinowaguma – a true bombshell style with an exceptional number of choices in the color HUDs – as well as an excellent and versatile pose set by Agapee.
I also want to give a special mention to my Chevron Necklace by Paper Arrow, which is the first piece of jewelry I’ve personally seen that features a specialized mesh body fit. I’m wearing the Maitreya (Beta) fit, and it may just be the first necklace I’ve ever worn in Second Life that did not have to be adjusted or resized in some fashion. So awesome! It fits beautifully against the skin with applier clothing, and works with mesh tops as well. A fitted version for Belleza’s Isis body is also included.

Dazzling gacha fans with a truly unique experience are the fabulous crew behind The Epiphany event, going on through August 4th. Here’s a quick summary of how the event works (a more complete guide may be found in this Flickr post):
When you rez an item, you will get the option to either turn it in for points, or to keep it. You will be able to trade these points in for purchasable exclusives.
– Commons trade in for 1 point
– Rares trade in for 3 points
With 25 points you can purchase 1 “no transfer” exclusive item from any of the creators at the event.
The fabulous Jungle set that I’m wearing by Salt & Pepper includes several of those lovely gacha prizes, and if you happened to be pulling on the machine and received a duplicate, or perhaps received an item in a color that wasn’t to your fancy, you could then opt to trade it in for points. And the best part is that you can rollover up to 100 points until the next round of The Epiphany, if you’d rather keep them for future trades. How wonderful! This is exactly the type of system I had hoped existed when I first learned about gachas, and I’m thrilled that the team at The Epiphany have brought it to fruition. But hurry if you’d like to play: the current round is only on through August 4th!
A couple more lovely things to mention: the dreamy, perfectly wispy braid by Besom, which is exclusive to the N21 event through August 10th. It’s hard for me to quit that gorgeous Fade Dye color HUD, and I think this hair color matched so well with the beautiful and tropical Lilly Half-Wreath by ERSCH. And I’m so in love with the Avian Sandals by REIGN, which come with 6 unique feather colors in the HUD. They were part of the recent Saturday Sale, where all flat sandals in the shop were priced at a mere L$50 per pair. Incredible! All apologies that I didn’t have a chance then to post about it, as I only just learned of it in the nick of time and it was a one day sale only. It’s so fascinating to me, all the various and sundry things in life that can be seen as an addiction. And even more curiously, many of them truly are beneficial and worthwhile – so perhaps better said, when you’re addicted to something that’s “good” for you, it’s more like a positive habit than something you may need to be cured of or separated from. And that’s a good thing my lovely friends, because when it comes to my Maitreya mesh body: Lara girl, I can’t quit you! ♥

The Mesh Body Addicts Fair launched its very first round on August 1st and is open for your shopping delight through August 21st at 11pm SLT. It’s a quarterly event, and as the name suggests, the theme is heavily focused on items that are particularly designed with mesh bodies, body parts, and mesh heads in mind. While the emphasis is on both fitmesh and body-specific appliers, you will still find Standard Sizes and Omega Appliers in many of the designer’s offerings to help maximize the range and compatibility for all customers. The overall range of items is really impressive! You’ll find awesome items for both the fellas and the ladies, including full mesh bodies, clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics and tattoos, and more.
One more terrific thing to note is that there’s a MBAF-sponsored photo contest to try your hand at, and the prize is truly impressive: the winner receives a copy of both Even Mesh Bodies (Slim and Pulpy versions); an Eve’Olution mesh head, lingerie set and three dresses; and an additional L$10,000 worth of gift cards from participating designers!
